Milton Concert Band Swing Ensemble

Milton Concert Band began experimenting with smaller ensembles around 2008. By 2011, they had found the perfect combination in the form of a swing ensemble under the direction of concert band member Mel Prout.

Consisting of members of the concert band with a few additional musicians to round it out, the MCB Swing Ensemble represents the larger Milton Concert Band in those venues that are too small to hold the full band and is available for hire for corporate events and private functions.  Under Musical Director Mel Prout's leadership, the group has evolved into a tight, harmonious ensemble with an ever expanding repertoire covering everything from jazz and blues to classic rock and of course, swing.

The 18-piece group consists of a female singer, a rhythm section (drum kit, electric piano, guitar, and bass), and trumpet, trombone, and saxophone sections. The group has performed in senior's centres, community events, and at several hugely successful private events.  Celebrating 5 years since its inception in February 2007, the non-profit, community based Milton Concert Band has grown to include over 45 members and 2 ensembles. The band gratefully acknowledges the support of the Milton Community Fund and is the proud recipient of a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, an agency of the Government of Ontario.
