Like To Make Music Happen - This Could Be Your Big Break!!

November 5, 2009

Burlington, Ontario (November 1, 2009). Preparations have once again begun for the selection of this year's Performers for Burlington's Sound of Music Festival 31st Edition on Father's Day weekend June 17th to 20th, 2010. And with over 90 Musical Acts across 10 performance areas we need a lot of superb talent to continue to make this "one of a kind" Celebration one of summer's most sought after Musical Events!

So how can you help make this music happen?

Submissions for this year's Musical Artists are NOW being accepted until March 26th, 2010, with all the details available at http://www.soundofmusic.ca/submit-band.php

The Festival celebrates Canadian and local musical talent (of all genres), with a preference to performances with a repertoire of original music. Local submissions are defined as "at least one member must reside in Burlington full-time". Please indicate if you are local in your submission. We also are very interested in both new and established talent, with a preference to those who have not yet played at the Festival.

Submissions must include the following to be considered - band name and short bio (100 words) - CD - contact information - suggested performance fee - and are accepted through Sonicbids or by mailing a package to: Burlington's Sound of Music Festival, Attn: Programming, P.O. Box 85007, 561 Brant Street, Burlington, Ontario L7R 4K3.

Openers for the Festival over the past few years, as well as those who have played on Hyundai/City Stage include - Faber Drive (played on community stage), Tomi Swick (Juno 2007, New Artist of the Year, played community stage), Arkells (2008 - headlined Edgefest & 2009 Casby Award - Favourite New Artist), Justin Nozuka (currently playing with John Cale, Crowded House, Ziggy Marley, Sam Roberts, Julie Black and Xavier Rudd). Could this list include you?!?

Stay tuned for more exciting news as it happens!

Megan Submissions for the Sound of Music Festival is open to ALL MUSICIANS (regarless of their location) - so please have your husband apply. What I meant was that we do give special consideration to local Musicians and Musicians with original material. My Husband is an up and coming Artist and was going make a performance submission until he read that "must reside in Burlington full time" . Just wondering why only submissions from Burlington Residents are be accepted. We reside in Hamilton and attend the festival every year.
