From Garbage Man To President In 5 Years!

I am sure that when Gerry Murphy started with the Sound of Music Green Committee back in 2004 he had little thoughts of someday being the Festival's President. But fiction becomes fact 5 short years later when our new Executive and Board of Directors were elected at our September AGM.

Our new President is now Gerry Murphy and our Vice-President is another long time team member, Terry Sims! Other new Committee Chairs are Tim Miron (Finance), Linda Goodrow (Corporate Secretary), Hoda Kayal (Communications - Media & Promotions), Dora Falcone (Downtown Streetfest), Judi Paré (Special Projects), and Kim Horvat (Sponsorship). And while we welcome our New Team, we must also sadly say "adieu" to those who are leaving. First and foremost a massive thank you has to go to Jayne Picott who has been with the Festival since 1987. She will be greatly missed along with our outgoing Corporate Secretary and Streetfest Representative Sandi Remedios (who joined us in 2001), along with our Spnsorship Chair Alan Haslett and our Finance Chair Rob Smith. Thank you one and all!

And finally a special mention to our Past President James Tuck. James has been with us since 2003 and as President headed two very successful Festivals including our recent 30th Anniversary Celebration. Thankfully James stays on as Past President to help out as need!

Our Festival continues to be a free event for music lovers of all ages only through the generosity and support of sponsors, and the dedication of over 500 volunteers.
