Thursday evening was the official opening of the 31st edition of our Sound Of Music Festival - and "oh what a night" it was! Perfect weather, fantastic entertainment and unbelievable crowds created a record breaking Opening Night Event.
I am not sure exactly how many were in attendance (initial rough estimates are around 30,000) but the audience size and excitement was that of our featured Saturday Night performances - and we are only getting started.
The opening performances were divided between our two main stages with 2112, For Those About To Rock, and Practically Hip rocking on the OLG Stage, and We Are The Bravest, Faber Drive and Marianas Trench thrilling crowds on the ArcelorMittal Dofasco Stage.
And in between sets the audience was treated to our fantastic food and merchandise vendors, carnival rides and even a guest performance by our world renowned Burlington Teen Tour Band! And tonight it gets even better.
Friday night sees ALL our main stages open with performances by The Trews, Lighthouse, Alex*Cuba and MICHOU to name just a few, as well as our Downtown Streetfest starting their weekend of more intimate performances and unique fun.
And with great weather in store for the weekend, our Grand Festival Parade (11 AM Saturday), Carnival and Rides, and full day activities at our Family Zone will make our Festival the place to be for ALL ages!
So please, check out our full schedule at http://www.soundofmusic.ca/schedule.php and plan to make it down to this year's Sound Of Music Festival.
Four Fabulous Days of FREE MUSIC and Family Fun for ALL AGES!
