Another Record Breaking Year!

June 25th, 2011

With over 200,000 guests, sunny skies, a record number of volunteers and a great line-up, this year's Festival was a resounding success!

Highlights include the surprise appearance of Sarah McLachlan on the Cogeco Stage on Saturday night, and new stages at the OLG and Burlington Hyundai performance areas. Downtown Streetfest expanded east to John Street, and west to include the new Burlington Performing Arts Centre pod. Our free music education program, Taking it to the Streets was full with 240 children enjoying top notch instruction in music and music theatre, one class was led by our very own President, Gerry Murphy! And our Sunday line-up including Devo and Men Without Hats brought record numbers of people to the park on the last day of the Festival.

It goes without saying that this Festival would not be possible without the contribution of over 600 volunteers, our generous corporate sponsors and our support partners. Thank you for being a part of Burlington's biggest music event of the year.

Planning has already started for next year's event, June 14-17, 2012. If you're like some of us and are suffering from Festival withdrawal, head over to Nickelbrook and pick up some Headstock, the local brewery's custom Festival label and log onto westjetfestivals.com (launches July 1) and vote Sound of Music Festival as Canada's Favourite Festival!
