Best of the Bunch

It feels great to be at the top. Moneysense has released their list for Canada’s Best Places to Live 2012 and not surprising to those of us that live here, Burlington was listed, second only to Ottawa. Check out the full article here: http://www.moneysense.ca/2012/03/20/canadas-best-places-to-live-2012/
Sound of Music Festival is proud to be part of the recently named Top 100 Festivals and Events Ontario list. With so many great festivals happening in Ontario, it’s an honour to be recognized (12th year in a row)! Start planning your summer – check here for the full list http://ow.ly/d/y2D. As we gear up for another fantastic event June 14-17, 2012, we’re grateful for so many wonderful volunteers and generous corporate sponsors, there would be no Festival without their support.
The Sound of Music Festival is a great investment for our city and the return on investment is huge. The financial support received by the city is given back directly in revenue through parking, permits, traffic control etc., and according to a recent survey, the event generates 4 million in economic impact including local and tourist spending. That’s a good thing for all of us! Our recent attempt for additional funding from the City was denied, however we do want to thank Councillor Marianne Meed Ward and Jack Dennision for their continued support.
